Dirty Work and Weeds

In case you missed it, Elsie made a big announcement on her blog- click here to read.  So I can now tell you what I've been up to.  The first day was spent consolidating space on the second floor.  There is 6,000 square feet of space, and every inch of it was packed with stuff.  By the afternoon of the second day, I had created about 60% more space.  After that, I started moving some of the inventory from downstairs, upstairs.  About a fifth of the floor space on the first floor was being used for storage and pending inventory, and we decided to try to use the new space upstairs for that.  So tonight, I continued moving inventory upstairs.  I'm very, very out of shape, and this was quite the task for a musician...  I feel extremely positive about the progress I've been making.  I'm well aware that I'm going to run out of steam sometime in the next week, so I'm trying to take advantage of my momentum.

By the way, I've started watching Weeds to relax after work.  I had watched a few seasons a few years ago, and decided (on the recommendation of some of you) to pick it back up again.  I'm enjoying it!  The episodes are only 28 minutes long, so I can watch a few without feeling too guilty.  One thing I enjoy about the show, is the emotional confusion you feel.  Are there really any heroes in the show?  Are their really any villains?  Sure, some characters more obnoxious than others, but no one is really "good".  Maybe that's part of the appeal.  You as a viewer are the hero, because you are not one of them.  Watching Weeds can make even the most inattentive parent feel like they at least deserve the purple ribbon, while these people should go home with nothing.  I can't believe I'm saying this, but it's almost 11, so I'm off to bed.  Thanks for reading!  Suki says hello.

C'mon Springfield!

I'm fairly certain that Elsie will be making an exciting announcement tonight about her business.  (Now she kind of has to).  I've been working away at _________ to try to get ready for the __________.  All I will say is that I can't remember the last time I was this tired.  It's 10:15 and I'll be asleep by 11.  

Also, I've been riding my bike everywhere these last few days and found out that I LOVE it!  I hadn't ridden one since I was about 10.  I kid you not, each time I ride, I get a minimum of two cars full of people yelling at me.  I adore Springfield, but it's times like this that I feel Springfield has fallen a bit too far behind the times.  One guy yelled, "Get a car!", another just stated the obvious, "Look, he's riding a bike!".  Come on Springfield, grow up a little; people ride bikes.  To prove it to you, I will give you some pictures of people you like riding bikes:

If I May...

Over the past month or so, Elsie and I have been attempting to tackle some pretty large projects.  I won't go into much detail just yet, but that will come soon.  It seems like everything we've been trying to do this year, is a mountain of risk and is frankly pretty scary.  I think we both came to the conclusion that this is a good time in our lives to do these things. 

This year, I've been trying to play the role of her "sidekick" as she is pursuing her dreams.  I've watched her take on responsibilities  one at a time, and knock down every obstacle that stands in her way.  Without being around her, I know it is impossible for any of you to ever completely understand how brave she is, and has been through every step of the process.  She is as relentless as she is imaginative.  Quite honestly, she is the hardest working person I've ever met.  (and she's reeeeaaaaalllly pretty too:)  What's even more amazing, is that she has the same drive to push me to new heights with my music.  She refuses to let me compromise on any level, and is my biggest source of support.  This is so incredibly rare.  

The little side project I've been working on is all about us (mainly Elsie) and is dedicated to her.  I've started working on the 4th song and am so anxious to show you all.  I think it's really fun sounding.

She is leaving tomorrow to drive so San Fransisco for another craft fair.  Please send her your best wishes.  I'm going to miss her a lot.  Thank you for letting me gush a little bit here;  I'm off to bed now.

I've heard that your 30's are some of the hardest years of your life.  Every little toothache, or muscle spasm triggers something in your brain that says, "Oh dear God, it's cancer!"  My 30's seem to be coming early.  I was washing my face yesterday, and found a small little lump along my jaw bone.  I'd never noticed it before, and couldn't stop touching it for hours.  When you're younger, those little moments are a little more exciting; you can show your friends and try to gross them out.  When you get older, you keep those little scares to yourself and just lie in bed thinking about them.  Another sign that my 30's have come early, is that I am completely unwilling to go to the doctor to find out what this is.  It's a common practice for men in their 30's and 40's to avoid any and all circumstances that might bring bad news or require surgery.  I'm sure if that little lump was anything at all, it could easily be removed in one session.  Yet, I will probably just try to "wait it out" and see what happens.  Men are foolish. 

It looks like the newest episode of Mad Men is up now, so I am going to go watch it.  Thanks for reading.

Panda Bear

Panda Bear has a new album out called Tomboy.  I am VERY excited about this, and you can hear a track from the album here.  I've been becoming more and more obsessed with Noah Lennox (Panda Bear) ever since Animal Collective released Merriweather Post Pavilion last year.  

I've really been trying to mesh my love for Pet Sounds with everything I love about Animal Collective for my little side project.  I can't wait to show you all some songs!  It won't be long...

Thank you for all the TV recommendations.  It's a little sad, but I've already watched most of the shows you mentioned.  I love Breaking Bad, Arrested Development, and 30 rock.  There were a few I hadn't heard of, and am going to check those out now.  Thanks for reading!
