Tonight I'm going to take a break from my shameless self-promotion of my side project (though if you still haven't given it a listen, you can do so here). I received an email from a friend of mine several days ago. His name is Jake Gorst, and he is an extremely talented film maker/director/writer etc. He is also the grandson of one of the most influential architects of our time, Andrew Geller. Before I get to the nature of the email Jake sent me, please take a look at some of Andrew Geller's brilliant work:

So, here is a portion of the email:

I would like to extend an invitation to you to attend an event in support of the preservation of my grandfather's architectural archives. This preservation project will be filmed for a documentary.
As many of you know, my grandfather, Andrew Geller is best known for designing midcentury free-spirited vacation housing throughout the Northeast and his work with Raymond Loewy. His designs were very influential and helped shape the modern esthetic. You can help preserve Geller's architectural archive, consisting of thousands of drawings and photographs, as well as models and correspondence, by participating in this special informative fundraising event.
Please join us at Design Within Reach in Manhattan at 27 East 62nd Street on October 27th from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. I will narrate a slide lecture highlighting his life and work and will speak about the Andrew Geller architecture archive preservation project. I will be showing some newly discovered images - never before seen by the public.
There will be a silent auction on select decorative items donated by Design Within Reach, artwork by Andrew Geller, Shirley Geller, Jamie Geller Dutra, as well as hand made one of a kind modern jewelry pieces by the architect's granddaughter, Nancy Schindler. More items are being added over the coming week. There are many door prizes as well. Items are being posted in advance on Facebook prior to the event.
Refreshments. $10.00 entry fee recommended.
For more information about the project please visit http://www.andrewgeller.net/.

This is a part of history that NEEDS to be preserved. Please tell your friends about this event!! A HUGE thanks to Jake for allowing me to use these amazing photos.
Thanks for reading.
