You covered the windows and locked up the door
'cause fictional visitors are hard to ignore
Some would say this is humanity left on it's own,
a masochist cannibal dining alone.
These things stay with me when I'm falling asleep
I dream we're all invisible, living separate lives
The lonely live by ritual, a sequent suicide
Yeah, I know, this cadence is our fate
Awaken and sedate, suppress and medicate
But now I've seen this day residue sleep through the night
and they're looking for ways to invade waking life
Though I've covered the windows and locked up the door
they've been scratching and clawing their way through the floor
Dreams do come true, I'll share one with you
When they find you, they don't leave you alone
and I know that they know your name.

Jeremy at the risk of sounding like a psych nerd; this is an excellent description of the feelings of schizophrenic (no I am not saying you are one). I've known a couple in my lifetime and if they could clearly articulate their feelings I think they would name this song.
Now having said that, I want to make it clear that I do like the song. Because of my experiences with my interesting friends, it has a certain pathos that reaches into my heart.
You're a very good writer/musician.
