The other night, I was hanging out on turntable.fm and we were playing our favorite music from movies. I played the theme from The Diving Bell and The Butterfly, and was surprised how many people actually hadn't seen the film. Here's the theme (there's a very unfortunate cropping of the title):
It's a wonderful piece of music. Even more beautiful, is the movie itself. I know a lot of people don't like watching videos on blogs, but if you haven't seen this movie, please watch the trailer:
The movie is on Netflix. Other soundtracks that changed my life (in no particular order):
1. Dancer In The Dark
2. Eternal Sunshine
3. There Will Be Blood
4. Norwegian Wood
Have you guys been on turntable yet? It's pretty addictive. As soon as Ryan finishes up the last Yearbook EP we will all pack up our sleeping bags and just camp there. Hope you all had a nice weekend. Thanks for reading.
Jeremy

I have no idea why I never saw that film, I wanted to, but I think eventually forgot about it; I'll have to correct that. And I think Ryan will need to spend a lot of time in a sleeping bag after all the work he's done this past year.

I loved "The Diving Bell and The Butterfly." I love how just listening to the theme took me right back inside the film.

i loved how during the first part of the movie, you see nothing but his point of view through the tiny opening in his eye bandages. at first it gets really frustrating, but then you realize that's the point! he can't see anything else even though it's so frustrating for him, and it really takes you into that mindset. brilliant film!

Hi.
I am always reading Elsie's blog and sometimes I go to your blog to read a little bit and I saw this post and I wanted to recommend you the film "Lovers Of The Arctic Circle" (original title: Amantes del Circulo Polar). The music and the film are beautiful.
And I will definitely see the films you mentioned. I just knew Dancer in the Dark (my husband is a huge fan of Bjork) and Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind (is that the one you mentioned or is there another one called Eternal Sunshine?)
Cheers

when I saw the still picture of the guy before playing the trailer, I was thinking the face of the guy looked familiar but... not American! Now I can't remember in what other movies I saw him... as well as the original title I can't recall either.
I find always very interesting to see the kind of movies France export to the US... very deep and/or very odd. I usually never heard back home of the French movies I discover here.
If you get the chance (I know it was released in the UK, dunno about here) watch Little White Lies!
Talking about soundtrack: I love Matthieu Chédid's work on Tell No One.
*off to check all the names I'm looking for*
thank you for sharing that!
