Last night we played in fort collins Colorado. It was a really friendly crowd, and they had some pretty amazing coffee. People don't seem to be as obsessed with coffee as I am here, or I suppose most any other place we've been for that matter. I approached the barista after the show and told her that I thought she was talented and she kind of looked at me with a face that said, "I'm not sure what you mean, but please stop talking now." I guess people here don't think of their baristas as being "artists"...
I really wanted to mention something that I noticed a long time ago. Ryan and Dan (sleeping at last) wait at their table after every show and talk to every single person that approaches them. Sometimes they will stay for hours until they've talked to every last person that wanted to meet them. This is not normal. The rock star thing to do is to run back stage and hide from your fans in order to keep up your mystique. (yes, that's really dumb) I even remember one night recently where there was a guy that drove two hours to see the show, but got caught up in some bad weather. He missed the show. When Ryan heard this, he walk back up to the stage and played a few songs on the piano and gave the guy a little mini-concert. These are some really good people that i am sharing the stage with. I have a lot to learn from them.
Thanks for reading.
